Northern Virginia Building Trades Apprenticeships

Building Trades Unions offer apprenticeships, which are opportunities for local residents to enter careers in the skilled trades.  The building trades include many different skilled crafts such as electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, pipefitters, carpenters, sheet metal workers, millwrights, painters, iron workers, laborers, boilermakers, elevator constructors, bricklayers, and more.  These crafts provide free training – both in the classroom and on-the-job – during which apprentices “earn while they learn,” including good wages, family health care, and retirement benefits.

Virginia Works Registered Apprenticeship Program

Whether you are looking for your first job, a better job, or your dream job, the earn-while-you learn model of Registered Apprenticeship can help you get there.

Apprenticeship is open to anyone the age of 16 or older. Apprenticeship is for High School students, career-switchers, veterans, military dependents, business start-ups, returning citizens, emerging industries, dislocated workers, expanding companies, immigrants, individuals with disabilities, family businesses, relocating corporations, low-income individuals – all who wish to contribute are welcome. Most industries support occupations that are considered “apprenticeable”.

Throughout the Commonwealth, Registered Apprenticeship Consultants stand ready to assist Employers and apprentices. Employers seeking to adopt Registered Apprenticeship intentionally and voluntarily agree to the premises of the model as an ideal way to train their talent in a specific occupation.
